The UAMS Office of Emergency Preparedness has been established to assist all parts of the UAMS community in planning and preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters. We work with a variety of partners; local, state and federal in coordinating emergency and dister response on behalf of UAMS whether the impact is strictly to the Campus, central Arkansas, or the state of Arkansas as a whole. This site and the internal Intranet site will assist you in learning more about Emergency Preparedness, educating on your role in the event of a Code activation, link you to partner sites and provide you with training and other materials to assist in ensuring we are prepared for any emergency or disaster in the future. Please check back as the site will be changing regularly.
UAMS has the designation from the National Weather Service of being a Storm Ready University. UAMS is one of only two universities in the state to have this designation. There are six guidelines that a university must meet to have this designation: communications and coordination center, National Weather Service warning reception, hydrometeorological monitoring, local warning dissemination, community preparedness, and administration.
