• Lead the Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as a place to consolidate, support, communicate, and guide UAMS’s framework and efforts for diversity, inclusion, and equity;
  • Lead the Chancellor’s Diversity Committee to promote transformation and excellence across the institution; ensure the goals of the Diversity and Inclusion Plan are prioritized, operationalized, and successfully implemented;
  • Maintain and promote best practices, benchmarking, current trends in diversity and inclusion; ensure that the VCDEI’s expertise and the field’s research is used to inform excellence in program and policy development work;
  • Develop and analyze actionable metrics that support monitoring, needs analysis, and strategic insights regarding diversity and inclusion initiatives/trends;
  • Facilitate dialogue about diversity, inclusion, and equity by ensuring formal and informal open lines of communication within the UAMS community;
  • Promote cultural competency and a climate of equity and inclusion. Training initiatives will include programming on all manner of human differences and diversity, as well as other topics to increase awareness and support;
  • Embrace diversity, equity and inclusion UAMS opportunities/strengths and make recommendations on how to maximize these institutional strengths; respond to identified needs to maintain an intentional and sustained focus on achieving inclusion;
  • Serve as a coherent and results-oriented catalyst for change throughout UAMS by regularly collaborating with faculty, staff, and students;
  • Inspire the UAMS community to achieve new levels of expertise and confidence through the usage of diversity, equity and inclusion best practices;
  • Promote appreciation across UAMS for the different diversity, equity and inclusion needs of constituents;
  • Develop relationships with local and national community leaders by representing UAMS at civic, professional meetings, and conferences;
  • Promote a positive image and ensure positive external relations by developing partnerships within our civic communities that advance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that further enhance the mission of UAMS;
  • Work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to secure external resources to help support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
