The Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) on the central campus in Little Rock offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including a child diagnostic unit serving children ages 2-12 with mental illnesses including pervasive developmental disabilities, psychosis, anxiety, and depression. The focus of the unit is on determining the correct diagnosis and providing patient-centric care with family involvement. A 10-bed women’s inpatient unit treats conditions such as severe depression and anxiety triggered by events such as trauma, pregnancy and life transitions. The 20-bed adult unit serves patients with co-occurring primary diagnoses (such as depression and diabetes) or with a mental illness diagnosis and secondary medical issues (such as complications from a suicide attempt or dehydration secondary to an eating disorder).
Outpatient services include the new Six Bridges Clinic for Arkansas residents ages 12 to 21 who are dealing with substance dependency. AR ConnectNow offers a 24-hour call center to support a virtual clinic serving Arkansans across the state. PRI also offers electroconvulsive therapy and is the first facility in the nation to implement the SAINT® neuromodulation system, an innovative therapy for treatment-resistant depression. The SAINT system uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to pinpoint the optimal target for precise transcranial magnetic stimulation in patients with major depression.
